Memorial Day

Tomorrow is Memorial Day, so just want to take this time to observe and remember all those who died in armed conflicts, helping to preserve our freedom.  I have had a few relatives that have been involved in the military.  My grandpa from my mom’s side was in World War II.  I had an uncle who was in the Korean War.  My dad was in the Air Force when Vietnam was going on, although he never had to go overseas. I wish I was more into history like I am now when my grandpa and uncle were still alive to maybe learn some insights in those conflicts.  Although I missed on those chances, I also realize that some families never got that chance, losing their sons and daughters far from home.

Tomorrow, even if for a moment, take the time to say thank you for all the men and women who died protecting our way of life.  I salute you.

Hello everyone.  Figured I would take some time (sorry for the pun) to talk about, well, time.  Some could say the word follows me around.  The first play I ever performed in high school was called Unspoken in Time. The screenplay I did for my Honors Capstone is called The Love Before Time.  My novel series is called Brinks in Time.  Time after Time is my favorite song (okay, that is a lie lol).  Only Time by Enya did however inspire the Brinks in Time series title.  Anywho, I think everyone gets the point.

Why is time one of those words that is attracted to me?  I do admit that time travel and being about to go back would be pretty cool.  A part of that desire might even be because there are things that I wish I could go back in time and change.  Heck, I wrote a novel series where that aspect serves during key parts of it.  Why would we want to change time?  For me, it would be trying to correct past regrets.  Past mistakes.  We all make them.  But I take my mistakes hard.  I try to learn from them, but sometimes it hits so hard and so fast, it takes longer to comprehend.  Regardless of how much I would love the ability to do that, the truth of the matter is that we can’t.

There is probably scientific ways of going back in time.  Avengers: End Game showed it.  Other, probably more unrealistic, ways were shown through Back to the Future of Terminator.  Regardless, we aren’t to that point yet.  And even if we did, changing time would probably be impossible.

There is always the saying that time heals.  I am not sure whether that is true or not.  Hasn’t been that much of a healer in the past for me.  I hope it is, especially with my current situation.  All I know is that I do believe that we, as people, tend to get angry about things and as a result, decide not to see or talk to that person.  At the time, it seems like a good idea.  In the long haul, the major thing lost is time with that person or people.  We can never gain that lost time back.  No amount of money has ever bought a second of time (from Avengers: End Game).  We all don’t know when our time is up in this world.  Could be 40 years years from now.  Could be tomorrow.  The deaths of two friends last year at the ages of 36 and 39 showed me that you just never know.  I have never been that angry at a person to know how that would even feel.  I know I can be naive and not understand why something happens, however.  If I could go back and change the mistakes I made, I would.  I have made many over the years.  I’ll probably continue to make more.  As long as we don’t define a person based off their biggest mistakes and instead off the good they’ve done, that would help hasten the healing process.  Not sure if that is something time can do, but it must have for someone otherwise where did the saying come from?

In conclusion, cherish every relationship you have and enjoy the time with those people.  I truly hope time will heal the most current wounds for me.  For others going through rough times as well, I hope that it does for you as well.

Day 2

Well, figured out why I couldn’t get the blog working.  Apparently it was user error.  My bad.  Least I got it going, so that’s good.

Tomorrow I should be getting the first draft of the book cover back.  I’m hoping it looks good so I can begin moving forward.  Then I just need to find a copy editor to look over and maybe review the work and then it should be good to go.

Figured I would spend a paragraph or two just explaining what is going to make this series stand out against the rest.  The fantasy genre is pretty competitive, after all.

One thing I thing makes mine stand out will be the aspect of time travel and how its treated.  I know we’ve all at one time or another looked back at something, wondering what it would be like if we went back and changed it.  In this story, the characters have the opportunity.  But they will also find out that changing something, even if seemingly small and insignificant, can have consequences and the responsibility to deal with those consequences is one of the many themes of the series.

Although I won’t get too deep into how the time travel occurs in a medieval-type setting (have to wait until A Mage’s Odyssey for that), its not something like Back to the Future where they need to go a certain speed.  As the characters will learn there are many different forms of time travel, all having a different process and set of rules.  The one constant for all of them: They can only travel to that moment once.

Gonna call it a night.  Almost midnight and need sleep.  Until the next time I write.

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my blog. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickies to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.

My First Blog Post ever! How exciting!

Hello everyone!  Welcome to my blog pertaining to my writing works, primarily on the Brinks in Time series.  I am truly excited to finally get this series off the ground with The Legend of Valendri’s Relic, which will be released soon via Amazon.

I started writing this series over ten years ago, where it started off as a simple school project for a radio drama.  Now it has become a cornerstone in my thoughts and I have worked hard through the years to tell a clear, exciting, and emotional story that teens and adults alike can enjoy.

My love for the fantasy genre is why I started writing it.  I always grew up around the sci-fi/fantasy between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.  I also played more of the Final Fantasy video games than I care to admit. Add in a love for reading and my imagination was in full throttle.

Although Valendri’s Relic was not originally intended to be the first released book, I decided that it painted a good introductory picture of the world of Gyyerlith just before we meet the real heroes and villains.  It also brought out some of the important themes that will carry on throughout each story.

For now I will stop here.  I will post more in the coming days.  Thanks for reading!
